Highpower R&D Institute Introduction

Highpower International R&D Institute is an integrated research institute inside Highpower International. Highpower invests 6% of the company’s annual revenue into the research and development of new material well as development, testing and verification of electrochemistry system platforms. In the R&D institute, there are four modules, respectively. 1. The Basic R&D Center; 2. Analysis & Test Center; 3. Project Management Center; 4. Professional trail production workshops. The institute pays close attention to the market demand and new cutting edge developments within the battery industry. Taking market as the orientation, of special attention, the R&D institute focuses on increasing volumetric & Gravimetric energy density, increased battery power (high rate discharge), as well as extended cycle life.

More than 400 scientists and engineers

The R&D Institute of Highpower International employs more than 400 scientists and engineers in the fields of electrochemistry, organic chemistry, material chemistry, physical chemistry and production machine design. This technical team and consultants are dedicated to continuous innovation while successfully securing more than 180 patents. Such patent quantity is among the highest in the Chinese Battery Industry.

Industry-University-Research Cooperation

Highpower International works closely with local and international universities. Such strategic partnerships include Central South University and other institutes that focus on new energy solutions and new material solutions. Based on the university’s post-doctoral project, Highpower has created a postdoctoral research foundation at Central South University, and experienced several exciting technology successes through the use of new materials. Such discovered have been implemented into real work battery applications.

It has integrated and optimized its equipment, formulation and technology resources, to establish strong capabilities in the development and innovation of battery material and systems. In fact, the R&D institute continues to find new advances in battery performance through new material and formulation of advances in the electrolyte system.

Testing & Verification

The laboratories and test centers within the R&D Institute has been certified by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS). Our Test center is equiped with over 900 advanced test machinese ranging from the machinces that defind chemical compounds, electrothermal analysis, reliability testing to safety testings. Meanwhile, the R&D center is managed by a group of Scientiest with rich experience. These Scientests enable the center to develop and analyze new techniques for the development of next generation batteries.
